Unpopular opinions from a ‘90s kid:
Not car related.
“Boy Meets World,” wasn’t all that good. “Saved by the Bell,” was genuinely terrible. Don’t believe me? Try watching that shit now. Both shows are available for streaming.
Sonic Youth and the Pixies were kind of stagnant and pretentious in their noise-rock. “In Utero,” was a better Pixies album than the Pixies ever made.
On that note, for every “Melon Collie,” or “The Chronic,” or “American Recordings,” there were a dozen steaming piles released by record producers eager to ride the coat tails of talented artists.

As a 70s kid I would agree with your TV criticisms. I was older than the target audience for those so I knew they were crap even back then, but I will say that Boy Meets World was much, much, much better than Saved By the Bell. I was also never a Pixies fan, but I was a fan of Iron Maiden so my judgement may not be trustworthy.

Agreed. Also, 29 and 39 cent burgers from McDonalds were still terrible.

Iron Maiden is fucking awesome.

And they still suck at 99 cents now.

I love Boy Meets World but I think it’s more because of the nostalgia factor than the fact of it actually being good.

If you see an old dude air drumming to Run To the Hills while sitting in traffic, that would be me.

I’m glad a couple of 90's Steves can agree on something

Clarissa Explains it All still holds up, though.
And Pavement is the only American band from the 90s that matters.

The early to mid 90s were the pinnacle of hip hop PERIOD.

True story: Melissa Joan Hart spent the day with my sister and her friend on Catalina island. She even bought them glazed tiles from some artist on the island.
Then when I picked her up from the airport I met George Clinton at the Starbucks.

God, pavement is the height of “I’m cool because I’m not cool” pretentiousness. Read an interview Chuck closterman did with the lead (I’m blanking on his name) and I wanted to strangle him 3 paragraphs in.

Sorry, I meant to say I don’t really like the 993 as much as I like the 964

I thought you were gonna say that the 993 is the worst generation of 911 and I was going to have to kill you

This. Beavis & Butt-Head and Daria are also meh, though The Maxx and Aeon Flux still hold up pretty well.

I will pretty much agree. I can’t believe I used to look forward to watching Saved by the Bell. It sucks. Boy Meets World was better, but only slightly. My 6 year old daughter has been watching the new Girl Meets World on Disney Channel where Cory and Topenga are the parents. It is awful.
I do still listen to the Death to the Pixies best-of album quite a bit. When I listen to their other albums now they are meh, but there was enough there over the years to combine into one solid album.
